Daddy Lumba, a legendary figure in Ghanaian highlife, has addressed rumors that his most recent song was directed at a specific person.
‘Ofon na edi asem fo’, which was accompanied by a strong warning to a critic, led some online commenters to assert that Lumba’s song was indeed directed at someone.
Daddy Lumba claimed during the song’s debut on DL FM in December 2022, “That useless individual, I am not done dealing with him.”
The turn of events reignited his long-running beef with gospel musician Isaiah Ampong, who claims the song was written as a diss to him.
A close source to Lumba, according to Ampong, offered him an indication about the music in 2018.
He said these things in an interview with Happy FM, where he also made a diss song about Daddy Lumba sound likely to be released.
“Sometime in 2018, a young man approached me and said me that his boss was recording a song against me. He assured me that I would hear about it soon. He claimed that my music producer Roland (Roro) and I were the targets of Daddy Lumba’s latest diss track. I was anticipating the diss song because I had already gotten the clue, and now it has arrived. He will soon hear from me, I promise. He will undoubtedly hear from me. The beef of the year is going to be this.
You may recall that I haven’t even spoken a word since my mum advised me to stop. But the battle lines have been drawn since he dropped a diss track. Even when the victim is not outraged after being stolen from, the thief is. I finished the diss song since I don’t have to struggle to write music. Ampong yelled passionately, “I am not a coward, I have been through a lot thus I am much bolder.
In the most recent development, however, Daddy Lumba has asserted that his song “Ofon nae di asem fo” wasn’t intended for anyone in particular.
He addressed individuals making such assertions in an interview with DL FM when disclosing this.
“I have heard rumors that I’ve named names in my song. I’ve owned this song for a solid seven years. In other words, I’ve been working on it for more than seven fruitful years. People cannot properly relate to a song if the musician is simply thinking about themselves when writing it. I write relatable music because I consider people. As my song’s title suggests, a lot of people make foolish decisions. I am even more attractive than those folks when you see them, he said.
