Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, explains the efforts of Government regarding the e-levy at a Government Town Hall Meeting in Tamale.
On November 17, 2021, Ken Ofori-Atta said that the Ghanaian government has chosen to tax all electronic transactions in the informal sector in order to expand the tax net. He said this in the 2022 budget statement and economic policy, which were read before Ghana’s parliament. The rate of the E-levy, which the government chose to apply to all transactions, is 1.75 percent.
