Mobile service providers will start enforcing the new Electronic Transfer 
Levy (E-Levy) rate of 1% as of tomorrow, January 11, 2023;
Airtel Mobile Commerce (Ghana) 
Limited, GCB G-Money, Mobile Money Limited, Vodafone Mobile Financial Services Limited, and Zeepay Ghana Limited are the service providers who will be carrying out the directive.
A press release issued by the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications today (January 10) assured the general public that its members are working assiduously with the GRA and other key institutions, to ensure a seamless implementation of the revised levy from Wednesday, January 11, 2023. It said: “as captured in the Electronic Transfer Levy (Amendment) Act, 2022, Act 1089 which has been passed by parliament and assented to by the President, the levy on electronic transfers has been reduced from 1.5 per cent to 1 per cent, while the GH₵100 threshold remains unchanged.”
The Ghana Chamber of 
Telecommunications told the public 
in news statement that its members are assiduously collaborating with 
the GRAand other important institutions to guarantee smooth implementation of the revised levy beginning on 
Wednesday, January 11, 2023.
The duty on electronic transfers has been cut from 1.5 percent to 
percent, while the GH $100 barrier remains constant, according to the 
(Amendment) Act, 2022, Act 1089, 
which has been approved by 
parliament and signed by the 
president.

“Following the directive from the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) the implementation of the revised Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) rate of 1% by Airtel Mobile Commerce (Ghana) Limited, GCB G-Money, Mobile Money Limited, Vodafone Mobile Financial Services Limited and Zeepay Ghana Limited, will commence on Wednesday, January 11, 2023,” the release said.

 

“As captured in the Electronic Transfer Levy (Amendment) Act, 2022, Act 1089 which has been passed by parliament and assented to by the President, the levy on electronic transfers has been reduced from 1.5% to 1%, while the GHS 100 threshold remains unchanged.

 

“The Chamber would like to assure the general public that its members are working assiduously with the GRA and other key institutions, to ensure a seamless implementation of the revised levy from Wednesday, January 11, 2023”.
