One of Ghana’s longest serving lawmakers and Member of Parliament (MP) for precisely Suame constituency, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has revealed that he will not contest for his seat in Parliament after serving for three decades.

However, the Majority Leader in Parliament in a recent interview stated that, for his age, and the number of times he has served in Parliament, it is time he bows out of the house.

He responded to a question, whether or not Ghanaians would see him again in the 9th Parliament of Ghana. Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah- Bonsu stated that “I have said it clearly that, because of my age I will end it here and show my gratitude”.

According to him, though some leaders in his party are calling for him to return to the house in 2025, he has not thought of going back.

“People in my party both region and national are calling and insisting that they need me but as at this time talking to you. I have spoken and made my stance clear”.

Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu while arguing on why he may not seek re-election stated that, “you bow out when the applause is loud”.

“I know the pressure that has come on me, but we are not going to discuss it on radio, we will talk about it later”, he said.
