According to Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, the current economic situation will prohibit the NPP from winning the 2024 elections. 

Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, a member of parliament for Suame and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has acknowledged that the 2024 general elections will be difficult for the governing party.

He claimed that if the current economic situation continues, the party will find it difficult to hold onto power.

On Monday, February 13,2023, he was speaking to Captain Koda during the Nyansapo morning show on Kumasi’s OTEC 102.9 FM.

Remaining in power in the general elections of 2024 is not unlikely, but the party will need to do more to improve the standard of living for the average Ghanaian.

“A hungry man is an angry man,” the saying goes, so if we want to stay in power, we must work hard to change the situation, he said. “I strongly believe breaking the eight is achievable, but we all must acknowledge that there is difficulty in the country.

Furthermore, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, a candidate for the NPP’s flagbearer position, declared that he would succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo in the near future. -Addo

Speaking to Accra-based GHOne TV, he said that the party adheres to a system of hierarchy in which candidates line up to fill open positions within the party.

“Professor Adu Boahen is where Nana Akufo-Addo and I first met. And I have consistently supported the president, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo. As ministers and in Parliament, our relationships have been fantastic.

For the position of NPP flagbearer, Dr. Apraku, a former Minister for Regional Cooperation under former President John Agyekum Kufour, will face competition from people like former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen Assin, Central MP Ken Agyapong, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and ex-Mampong MP Francis Addai-N
