The Speaker Of Parliament, RT HON. ASK BAgbin, Has Revealed The Kumawu Seat In The Ashanti Region Inexpressive.
This follows the death of Philip Atta Basoah, the former Member of Parliament.
The Speaker in a transmission to the Electoral Commission (EC) on Friday, March 31, 2023, directed the Electoral Commission to hold a by-election for a renewal of the late MP.
Article 112 (5) of the 1992 constitution states that “whenever a empty space occurs in Parliament, the Clerk to Parliament shall alert the Electoral commission in writing within seven days after the empty space occurred, and a by-election shall be held within thirty days after the vacancy occurred.”
The first mentioned lawmaker kicked the bucket on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where he had been on concession briefly.
He’s said to have been struck with a solidus while sleeping.
