As part of the funeral schedule, there was a Requiem Mass held at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in his memory attended by so many politicians, children and family.
The heaviness of hearts and the gloominess of faces present give meaning to the importance of the service and how dear Rawlings was to the people of Ghana and Africa.
All four children of Rawlings: Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Amina Agyeman-Rawlings, Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings and Yaa Asantewaa Agyeman-Rawlings together with their mother and former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings were in sombre mood throughout the service as they mourn the painful exit of their father, husband and mentor.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice President Bawumia and their spouses also attended while former President John Mahama, NDC party executives and other appointees of the governemnt were all clad in black as they sing and prayed for the peaceful rest of Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings who passed away lon November 12, 2020, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The funeral rites started from January 24 and will on Wednesday 27, where Ghana and the world will pay their final respect and bid a farewell to the 1st President of the fourth Republic and the political leader who transitioned Ghana from military rule and intimidation to Democratic freedom and rights,
