The organisers of the Upper East Peace and Entertainment Award 2021 have identified lack of sponsorship deals and low patronage from the public as a major challenge militating against running of award scheme to recognise the contribution of personalities and institutions in promoting peace in the Upper East Region.
They have therefore extended warm hands of invitation to philanthropist and corporate institutions to support the noble course of promoting the craft of young actors in the entertainment and music industry.
This was contained in a press statement following a press conference held in Bolgatanga to announce the change in the venue for the event in July this year organized under the auspices of the Upper Youth for Peace in collaboration with Deprived Children and Women Empowerment Project, GonyLive, Read-A-Book Foundation and Foot for Street. The organisers disclosed that the award scheme seeks to provide a creative and nonviolent avenue inspiring social consciousness and effecting change through entertainment which is a better medium for interrogating the character of conflicts and evaluating the quality of conflict resolution.
According to the statement the object of the award scheme amongst others is to develop the competence of youth ambassadors in human rights promotion and protection, conflict transformation, peace building and intellectual dialogue.
The statement added that the scheme hopes to give visibility to a least 15 locally based youth led project for peace building in conflict affected areas while strengthening the role of young people in speaking against discrimination, hate Speech and human rights violation.
