KNUST denies rumors that 17 people lost their lives in the Sunday fire.
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has exposed rumors whirling via web-based media that 17 people including a carrier have lost their lives in the Sunday fire outbreak.
The University has additionally excused claims that the republic hall was too burnt down.
The fire which was accounted for to have begun around 1:30 am at dawn in a Mini market possessed and worked by some private people behind the Republic Hall in KNUST was totally burnt.
As per the University the board, students who live in the republic hall were promptly moved out from their halls until the circumstance was managed by the fire tenders in the university . In a press statement signed and endorsed by the Deputy Registrar of the University Relations Dr. Daniel Norries Bekoe importuned the general public to to ignore the deception via web-based media that nearly 17 people lost their lives including a carrier.
He noted “We wish to entreat the general public to disregard the misinformation on social media that the republic hall was burnt and 17-persons including a porter have lost their lives.”
The Executives of the University also made it known to the public that non of the students and the staff or any item was destroyed by the fire . “The campus is calm and all students are going about their routine activities peacefully,” they added.
