Beautiful Police constabble shot dead in Bawku
A Ghana Police Department constable was killed during a resurgence of violence in Bawku, Upper East Region.
According to the police, Constable Regina Angenu of the Paga Police Station paid a visit to her colleague, Constable Erasmus Enkson of the Bawku Division, on Sunday.
However, at approximately 5:07 p.m., the duo was attacked by unknown assailants.
The deceased was shot in the groin and died at Presbyterian Mission Hospital.
The body was taken to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital for autopsy and preservation.
Meanwhile, eight people were injured in varying degrees during the tense situation, according to sources, and were rushed to the Presbyterian Mission Hospital.
Insecurity has become a major concern in Bawku following gunshots in the early hours of Monday, December 27, 2021, which resulted in the loss of lives and the destruction of property in the township.
Since then, the government has implemented various curfews through the Interior Ministry in order to reduce tensions.
Smocks and male pillion riders are also prohibited.
Following the violence, 13 people were apprehended and airlifted to Accra.
The incident also resulted in increased security deployment to municipalities throughout the municipality.
