Police Stops A Robbery Attack At Esiama Ecobank

The Police at Esiama in the Western Region have obstructed a robbery operation on Ecobank Esiama branch.

In a police report stated that they got a call from an unknown person who said robbers numbered five (5) had attacked the bank. The police responded to call immediately by reaching the place where the bank was located.The robbers upon seeing the police opened fire on them.

The Armed Policemen returned fire, driving the armed robbers to escape into a close by bush. This incident occurred on 13, February 2021 which was Saturday.

The Police additionally rescued a private security man of the bank and another who was working at a neighboring ECG office.
Their hands had been tied behind them and legs additionally tied with ropes.

The Police picked one AK 47 attack rifle with tempered serial number and 28 rounds of live ammo immediately they started chasing the robbers who escaped into the bush. Different things recovered includes a industrial cutter, crowbar, screwdrivers, damaged padlocks and four BB used shells.

The Police additionally saw among others, that the burglar proof and glass doors which lead to the banking hall were damaged by the robbers. Although the robbers successfully broke into the banking hall , they didn’t succeed in robbing the bank due to the police reaching there on time , which caused them to flee into the bushes nearby.

A search operation has to been mounted for the police to arrest the robbers.The police has urged the residents of Esiama and nearby area to assist the police in this operation.
