Should Ghana Beg Shatta Wale??

Ambassador Jon Benjamin cracked the ribs of many with a tweet he made on twitter concerning a question asked by Pulse Ghana. In the tweet he literally begged self-acclaimed dancehall king, Shatta Wale to help his fellow colleagues, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy to upgrade their music to a higher standard.

In a tweet, Pulse Ghana asked netizens a question; “If you could ask Shatta Wale one question, what would it be?” Several people sent replies as to what they would love to ask the Shatta Movement boss, some asked interesting questions whiles others asked funny and others annoying questions.

One of the few people who asked an interesting question was the former British High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Jon Benjamin. In a tweet, he asked, “My one question for @shattawalegh would be: when are you available to help Sarkbwoy upgrade their music to your level?”

The ambassador is known for being sarcastic and jovial on social media, but people believe that, he might be right in some ways.

Last year, Shatta Wale got one of his biggest music breakthroughs after he was featured on Beyonce’s ‘’The Lion King: The Gift Album’. Not only was he featured on the album, a video was shot for the album which featured him (Shatta Wale), Beyonce and other creatives from Africa. He may not have a lot of features but this feature with Beyonce somehow overshadowed every other featured.Ghana Beg Shatta Wale13ac13ea523ecc3ba96d25c12c2eda88

Sarkodie and Stonebwoy also have several features, both locally and internationally. Stonebwoy’s recent ‘Anloga Album’ features the likes of Keri Hilson from United States of America, Nasty C from South Africa, Diamond Platinumz from Nigeria, Alicia Harley, Jahmiel from Jamaica, Zlatan from Nigeria, Chivv and Spanker from Netherlands and the legendary Kojo Antwi from Ghana, Sarkodie on the other hand has featured with Ace Hood, Burna Boy, Pantoranking, Rudebwoy, Mr Eazi amongst others. These three artistes hold some of the biggest records in the Ghanaian music industry but all Jon Benjamin is trying to say is that, Shatta Wale has a lot to teach his other colleagues in terms of reaching the international level. It might be a sarcastic tweet but he might be right.
